Review of The Dictator (2012) by Filmgrinder S — 21 May 2013
If you know what to expect from Cohen, then you already know what this movie is all about. Crude humor, offensive material, and cheap laughs. In other words, it's a crap film. However, that doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad thing.
The film is yet another extended episode of The Ali G Show. Some of the gags are pretty hysterical considering how crude the content may be. The performances are signature Cohen, and carried by a similar sidekick. The plot itself might as well be nonexistent due to its stupidity. Again, that may not be entirely a bad thing, but in contrast a good thing for Cohen's followers.
For the easily offended or squeamish, avoid this movie at all costs. For everyone else looking for a cheap laugh, I'd recommend this over another contrived Hangover sequel, or Rogen brigade spinoff.
