Review of The Diary of a Teenage Girl (2015) by Da Z — 30 Dec 2015
As a 25-year-old guy, I never thought I'd have so much in common with a 70s teen girl discovering her sexuality. There isn't a single film in recent memory that has felt as refreshing and full of life as Diary of a Teenage Girl.
It straddles a very strange line between cute and grotesque, innocence and hyper-sexualization. At it's core, it's an imaginative and beautifully told coming-of-age tale, and in a much larger scope, it is a genuine piece of art.
