Very much a belated review. I've seen this quite a few times now, and while it doesn't exactly get too too much better with age, it remains a solid film from Rob Zombie. The Devil's Rejects may not so much be a sequel to House of 1000 Corpses, but more an improvement on the story and the characters.

The Firefly family remains monstrous in this film, and yet, they remain human. What makes this a better film than its predecessor is its profound look at the embodiments of good and evil. The Devil's Rejects is worth watching because it feels more like the film Rob Zombie's most personal film, without all the pressures of the studio.

This is not a run of the mill horror film, and it does not spook as easily as much of today's horror attempts to do so. It's the kind of horror that stays with you rather than kill 90 minutes, like in the same vein as late 60s through the 70s horror.

It's disturbing, sure, but it is original filmmaking at a pretty high caliber.
