Review of The Devil's Rejects (2005) by Alexander P — 11 Aug 2010

Now this is my kind of horror movie. It's odd for me to say that, because a few years ago, I refused to watch any horror movie period. But now, I can appreciate a good freak-out movie such as this. Rob Zombie did a great job with this one and it really shows off how multifaceted he is as both a musician and director. Though it's the sequel to "House Of 1000 Corpses", you don't need to see that film to understand this one. I didn't and I got along find. Great acting by the principal cast, awesome soundtrack, and really sick, and sometimes funny scenarios.

It's funny because IFC is airing their "Helter Swelter" series of movies tonight which consists of "Saw", this film, "Hostel", and "Hostel: Part II". I've seen all of those films, except for the last one, and it looks like the evening will diminish in quality as the night goes on: from my one of my favorite horror movies ("Saw"), to a pretty damn good one ("The Devil's Rejects"), to a really disgusting one ("Hostel"), to one I'll never, ever watch ("Hostel: Part II"). If you haven't seen any of these films and are a fan of horror, I suggest you check them out, but be prepared to see some freaky, sick stuff.
