Review of The Devil's Rejects (2005) by Adam K — 18 Sep 2010
Very violent and will be very hard for some viewers to watch. I have a hard time saying I liked it, but I have an even harder time saying I didn't. Rob Zombie is a genius at making charcters that are so despicable and repulsive, that I feel I must praise him.
Just like in his music he creates something so odd and unappealing, but at the same time it seems to have something likeable about it. The Devil's Rejects is a breath of fresh air that is soo pure I just want to stop my day and let it gently hit my skin, compared to the sickening garbage that was House of a 1000 Corpses.
The Devils Rejects takes place after House of 1000 Corpses, and the Firefly family is now on the run. I see slight glipses of hope in Rob Zombie's directing career. He has creative talent, but he uses it to make such horrific charcters and overly violenct scenes.
The Devil's Rejects is unique, at times clever, and all the time repulsive.
