Review of The Devil's Rejects (2005) by Chris A — 26 Aug 2012
Where house was a gorefest with no real coherent sense of direction, weirdly enough the devil's rejects actually has an idea as to what kind of movie it is. Yes it is truly deranged but it has the elements of the old school B grade horror movies of the past.
The sexual content is severe, the violence pushed to the envelope but it actually has a sense of continuity in its plot and shows Zombie is learning his craft. I must say though it seems almost a direct copy of the beginning of From Dusk, Till Dawn (signs of clooney and tarantino especially).
It shows how Zombie truly got what he wanted to do for this film and it will become a cult hit but its just too bad his halloween films (especially the 2nd last one) lost the hind sight of having all of the elements of a dialogue driven horror film, instead of depending on gore to truly disturb the viewers.
