Review of The Devil's Own (1997) by Jimmy M — 25 Sep 2008
This is a tragic movie, but I really liked it. Pitt does a very credible Irish accent, which I wasn't sure he could pull off. Ford is brilliant as usual in the role of a cop faced with either doing the legal thing and taking down this young man he has come to form a bond with, or to let him go.
The relationship between the two characters is the real selling point of the movie, and provides its most tragic possible ending. "This isn't an American story. Things don't always end up all nice and happy.
