Review of The Devil's Own (1997) by Clay B — 11 Apr 2011
An extremely ordinary, moral grappling action thriller with a remarkably slow pace, and lots of predictabilities. The Devil's Own fails to become engaging until well into the second hour, where a mildly interesting plot is finally unveiled, strongly focusing on character confrontations.
The lethargic first hour of the movie seems to have little relevance to the main plot, and the poorly utilised Irish soundtrack avoids all interesting action sequences, appearing only at times when very little is actually happening.
This conventional action thriller is incredibly messy, and just about watchable.
