Review of The Devil's Double (2011) by Eric G — 01 Sep 2011
Interesting and true story, the film paradoxically loses some of its impact by an over dramatisation. The Devil's Double explores the life of an Iraqi lieutenant forced to become a body double for Saddam Hussein's mad son for about 4 years before the Iraq war in 1991.
Latif Yahia is endlessly confronted first hand to the regime's atrocities and also struggles to maintain his own identity after forced cosmetic surgery. Good performance from Dominic Cooper who carries the film throughout.
