Review of The Devil's Double (2011) by Mikhail B — 25 Dec 2011
Basically, a story about the lifestyle of the Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussain's son, Uday. He employs a double, or, rather forces him to work for him. The double turns out to be an honest guy who despises Uday's lust for the underage, passion for torture, habit of constantly being drunk or high on drugs.
He escapes, but after his father is captured and killed, he returns to Iraq and attempts to kill Uday to disappear again. Scenes of violence are probably essential for the plot, but nonetheless unpleasant.
The film aspires to approach documentary credibility, but, eventually settles between fiction and propaganda.
