Review of The Devil's Double (2011) by John T — 10 Jan 2012
Its a well known fact that back during his pomp , Saddam Hussein had many body doubles . It's not that well known that his oldest son , who was a nut job , also had a double and this the story of Uday Hussein and his reluctant double Latif.
The Devil's Double is an interesting story that is told in an over the top extravagant way and is entertaining for the most part but I would have liked this film much more if the director took it a little bit more seriously.
One of the problems is the lead actor Dominic Cooper . He plays the part of latif really well but when it comes to playing Saddam's son he cant quite cope with the job.
He goes well over the top and turn the man into a bit of a comical character and that's a real shame.
It's still not a bad film but I would have much preferred the historical instead of the hysterical.
