Review of The Devil's Double (2011) by Kimberly B — 11 Mar 2012
I liked this. Per the Flixter reviews, apparently the critics didn't. Ok, so this isn't going to change your world, but I was engrossed & entertained throughout. I liked the cinematography.
My husband didn't want to see this at all, but he grudgingly agreed to give it a try. He got hooked, too, and we ended up watching the entire thing at once, despite intending to watch only half of it.
Mostly, however, I am very impressed with Dominic Cooper. Why in the world was he not nominated for his performance here? It was fantastic. Charismatic and compelling; very convincing. It was a challenging part in a generally weak -- entertaining, yes -- but not otherwise impressive movie.
He carried the film, and he was amazing. By far his was the best performance by a Male Lead that I saw in a 2011 film. For his performance alone, I would say this is worth a watch. Uday Hussein was a total psychopath, by the way, so if that sort of thing bothers you then you might want to skip this.
