Review of The Devil's Double (2011) by Chriss M — 18 Mar 2012
A nice piece of fiction which is based on a work of fiction, with a stellar performance by Dominic Cooper as the teller of tall tales, Latif Yahia, himself.
The film oscillates from looking uber-stylish to terribly tacky. In fact, maybe a film with this subject matter looking as stylish as it does is indeed an exercise in tackiness to begin with, unless of course, Mr. Tamahori knows full well that the tale he has based his film on is one which has the credibility of a tabloid kiss-and-tell. If you can turn off your brain the film is not too bad actually.
