Review of The Devil's Double (2011) by Michael F — 20 Dec 2013
This movie is criminally underrated. It's a fever nightmare of brutality, honesty, and performance. Dominic Cooper deserved to win an oscar for his incredible dual role. He conveys the fear that Latif must have felt being confined into an identity that is not his own, while at the same time, showing us the most horrifying villain in a film since the Joker in The Dark Knight, in Uday.
It's a hard movie to watch, with violent and sexual atrocities left and right, but it rarely feels exploitative and is incredibly rewarding.
