Review of The Devil's Double (2011) by Chase R — 21 Aug 2011

The year's most disturbing film might have to go to this one. I don't care what type of ghost, monster, or demon you can make up, the most horrific things in this world are generally humans. Especially humans like Uday Hussein. Which is played brilliantly by Dominic Cooper here.

The film is about an Iraqi named Latif who becomes Uday Hussein's body double. He witness all the screwed up things that Uday does like murdering people, raping young girls, and raping young brides on their wedding days. Yeah that is all pretty screwed up. Plus also how this guy gets off to torture is also down out right insane too.

Dominic Cooper is brilliant in playing both Uday and Latif here. Its almost impossible to keep your eyes off of him. The violence in this film is so disturbing. There is a scene where Uday is slicing a man abdomen open with a gigantic steak knife, and you see the mans kidneys and intestine all coming out. Lets just that opening scene Saving Private Ryan is know were indeed as gross that in terms of showing intestines.

The film has draw backs, the first twenty to thirty minutes are kind of slow. It also might rap itself a little too quickly. I recommend the film if you stomach all of the violence. Plus I hope Dominic Cooper gets some recognition come Oscar time.
