Review of The Devil's Carnival (2012) by Robert M — 07 Nov 2012
After seeing Lynn Bousman's work in the Saw franchise and his other horror films, who could think about that this guy could make a horror musical like the classic ones. Of course, just kidding about it. His other musical was Repo, which marks a transcendental depart from his classic horror films. And this is the proof of it.....
The Devil's Carnival, like it is predecessor Repo: The Genetic Opera Musical, offers a twisted tale of madness and confusing which in the end leave you in looking more question about what you saw than answers you receive. It's creepy, fantastic and beautiful performance of the entire cast. The music is so entertaining and very accoplated of what you are seeing in screen, which always deliver of what this kind of movie should always do...... Give feeling and vibes on some way that make you want to be part of what the cast are doing in front of you.
Using the concepts of the burlesque and the macabre, The Devil's Carnival not only mark a depart from what this director always do, but is an amazing and marvelous experiment combining stories ala Tales from the Crypt with music, that make this one more entertaining from anything you have seen at this moment.
Highly recommendable for those who are participating in musical and want to improve its acting while singing, but more important those who enjoy the classical West Side Story and The Sound of Music, will want to have this one in part of he or she collection!!!!!!
