Review of The Devil's Advocate (1997) by Mike H — 22 Jun 2009
The script is kind of a piece of shit, but if you're a Pacino fan, you've come to the right place. This is almost certainly his best old age role. The movie is nothing without him. Charlize Theron overacts a tad, but at least she can act -- Keanu on the other hand is totally disengaged from every scene, but drives a well-balanced amount of bluffing emotion into his performance; it is noticable but not terribly distracting, even as he drifts in and out of a partial Southern/Keanu accent.
