Review of The Devil's Advocate (1997) by Baurushan J — 20 Jul 2012

Another movie I fought hard to watch :O and I got it :O and I fucking love this movie! :D This was probably one of the only reasons why the 1990s was cool because of cool movies like this other than the shit that caused the 1990s to die out like Steel, Inspector Gadget, Home Alone 3 and OK you know the rest of the movies but my god this one was picture perfect.

This is my review of The Devil's Advocate. The story is about Kevin Lomax played by fucking Neo himself Keanu Reeves (oh yeah this is Reeves before The Matrix so we're in for some early fun) who is a successful lawyer as he has never failed dealing a case, he takes himself to the next level by putting his legalistic skills to the test in Manhattan run by John Milton played by The Godfather himself Al Pacino.

Unfortunately, Kevin's mother played by Judith Ivey gives him Bible-based warnings telling him that New York City is "the dwelling place of demons" as she views it but he takes the risk to leave Gainesville,Florida with his wife Mary Ann played by Charlize Theron and puts himself to the test strong and firm not knowing Manhattan,New York City is haunted with demons just like his mother warned him.

There is definitely a twist in this movie more more than just a twist which I am not going to tell you because you have to watch the movie to figure it out. The film is based on the book by Andrew Neiderman and I would like to thank him for creating not a natural book but a supernatural book.

The script is powerful, the music is dramatic, the settings and locations are shot beautifully, the cast is firm, the horror is just horrific, the myth about "lawyers come from/go to hell" was perfected by this two hour plus movie and the genres both the book, the atmosphere is powerfully realistic and the film has chosen are flawless.

I feel like most horror movies are ridiculous, laughable, boring, silly, pointless, uneven or slow making them just unscary. This movie is dark, creepy, terrifying, frightening, haunting, threatening, demonic and overall it's just scary.

Overall this movie is one of the best horror movies ever and it sure is gonna rank high up there. It's worth watching many times, I'll sure to come back and watch this movie again multiple times and enjoy over two hours thoroughly with Neo and Scarface.

The Devil's Advocate gets a true 10/10.
