Review of The Devil's Advocate (1997) by Hanta T — 26 Sep 2010
I love the ideas preseted in the movie. A thoughtprovoking suspense, however it took quite a while for it to get to the scary parts. For a 90's movie, the special effects to make the humans appear devilish was extremely frightening and unexpected! I had to dwell on what Al Pacino's part was expressing to Keanu near the end when he finds he is his father.
The devil does not judge, and does not reject. Isn't that a more merciful being? I understand that is temptation, and that we must fear God so that we can do right on the Earth. Not everything right is easy, whereas most things done wrong isn't hard.
Then the levels of sinning can still jeopardize your chances of a paradise afterlife. Other than the meaning and the story, I thought it was very well presented. It barely kept my interest from scene to scene but it did nonetheless.
great cast. I can see why it is a classic :).
