Review of The Devil Wears Prada (2006) by Beaudie S — 12 Mar 2011
Not being a slave to fashion, perhaps this was a little lost on me. As an allegory of what happens when you put work before family and friends this was effective. Streep is always a class act to watch but even I thought she was coasting with this one.
I dont believe she deserved an Oscar nomination for playing an emotionless business woman. If I want an emotionless performance I could easily watch any of the child characters in any Harry Potter movie and I think you will agree none of those actors deserve an Oscar.
Good 'Friday night, sit with a takeaway and veg out with the girlfriend' fodder but I just cant help but feel that there was no point to this movie, apart from watching Anne Hathaway...
