Review of The Devil Rides Out (1968) by Matt C — 18 Jul 2007
One of Hammer's best; surely one of the most fun horror movies of the 1960s. Christopher Lee has a great role as the movie's hero, for once, and he plays it with great intensity and authority. Charles Grey is equally good as the quietly menacing leader of the Satanic cult.
It's a great popcorn horror flick with a great dose of action and adventure to make it a solid effort. Who doesn't love seeing Christopher Lee battle Satanists and dark forces?
Christopher Lee said that this was his favorite movie that he was in. The fact that his acting career spans almost sixty years and includes hits like the "Lord of the Rings" franchise and random Tim Burton movies should go to show you how much of a classic this is.
