My fave! Marlene is the perfect man eater and destroyer here. Von Sternberg was obsessed with the image of a beautiful woman as a soul stealing destroyer. Marlene by turns is sexy,petulant,childish and mocking.
Combined with the LUSH photography and lighting Marlene as Concha is by turns a devil and an angel (if slightly soiled) I could watch this everyday and still love it. The scene where Concha tells Don Pasqual that he's not her husband, father or her lover and tells he has no rights to her is one of the best!
