Review of The Devil Came on Horseback (2007) by Phillip M — 14 Jan 2008
Ever wonder what would happen if you sent a gung-ho Marine as a non-partisan observer with a camera instead of a gun into a genocide. This documentary on the Darfur region of Sudan tells the story of one ex-Marine Captain who has to rectify his love his country with the its inability to act or even limit genocide.
While the movie does a decent job of detailing the ongoing atrocities that have now spilled into Chad it jumps around too much and doesn't give a detailed review of the underlying political problems (i.
E. China pumps most of its oil in Sudan in Darfur) that have actually inhibited anyone from performing substantive action in the region. People cry for help and the UN security council votes on another referendum.
