Review of The Devil Came on Horseback (2007) by Kenneth Y — 19 Apr 2009
This was an extremely powerful documentary and really made the conflict and genocide in Darfur hit home hard. It truly made it feel personal and stabbed right at my heart. When Marine Brian Steidle said he thought he'd come back to the States and show people these photo's and write about what he saw there and thought America would really step in and help, and then we did nothing.
..wow. That just made me cry. The fact that we go about our daily lives, fretting about the smallest of frivolties, while the people of Darfur (and many, many other countries, for that matter) are having to face such horror on a daily basis is heartbreaking and makes one feel extremely petty and selfish.
This is definitely a documentary that everyone should watch. People's eyes need to be opened and this film does that very, very well.
