Review of The Devil Bat (1940) by Philip P — 06 Jul 2008
Poor old Bela Lugosi. Here he is again, experimenting on bats this time, in yet another secluded laboratory. I wonder how the conversation went between him and his school careers adviser. A little like this, perhaps:
Young Bela: "My ambition is to star in some of the most iconic and important horror movies in cinema history, so becoming a global icon of the genre. Ha. Ha. Ha. And then I shall end my career in cheap and lazy rehashes with scant regard for plot, continuity or acting until nobody takes me seriously anymore and my pictures are treated with contempt and ridicule.".
Careers Adviser: "Sure, good plan. Here's the number for Universal.".
