Review of The Devil at 4 O'Clock (1961) by Tom H — 31 Jul 2009
Entertaining disaster melodrama from director Mervyn LeRoy. It gets off to a slow start, and is pretty hokey with some heavy-handed spiritual messages toward the end - but the exotic locale, colorful characters, and solid old-fashioned storytelling keep it compelling, and there are some fun vintage special effects.
Not any kind of classic, but an entertaining old-fashioned potboiler.
