Review of The Devil and Daniel Johnston (2006) by Anthony H — 17 Nov 2007
Great documentary on the life of Daniel Johnston, The manic-depressive folk singer. I didn't know much about Johnston before seeing this movie, but this has pulled me in, the man is an artist in every sense of the word.
Sure...he's not a great singer/guitar player, but he's one of the greatest song writers of all time. Listening to his lyrics, they're so real and passionate. The movie did SEEM a little long, but mostly because it jumps from 1996 to 2006 in less than a minute, but then talks about his modern times.
Into music? Check this out. Johnston is insane.
