Review of The Descent (2005) by Sean T — 08 Aug 2013
Alright, as far as horror movies go there were some scares. But overall, it had the same "been there, seen that" feel as the other films. A bit disappointing considering the hype, but worse is that all the unique selling points (all female cast, set in a cave etc.
) don't really work. Simply making all women but all of them more masculine does not make a difference. Having different accents so you can tell them apart in the middle of a dark scene - doesn't work! Or the fact that everyone there other than the two who are given a back story and some characterization is simply there for fodder and them thinking we won't notice.
Mixed feelings to be honest.
