Review of The Descent (2005) by Joellemm — 29 Sep 2016
The claustrophobic setting is so well directed, ensuring tension is already built before we even realise the most horrific elements of the cavern. The simplistic plot has its ground work layered early on, meaning the focus is on scares from then on.
The plot is fun, and works well with theme. The most impressive aspect of the film, is its escalation; of the tension, the gore, the scares, the characters. The acting was a little underwhelming, and there was some minor unexplained plot points, plus some over the top moments, but these take little away from what is a great horror film.
