Review of The Descendants (2011) by Adam F — 28 Feb 2013
"The Descendants" features genuine emotion and some very strong performances. George Clooney is spectacular and even actors for whom we have little or no expectations (such as Matthew Lillard) are very good.
The portrayals of grief, anger and sadness are so good it's impossible not get an emotional rouse from the film and it has just enough humour sprinkled in to make the whole scenario realistic and uplifting in the end instead of completely depressing.
This is a film that reflects what life is genuinely like; there are no stereotypes of one dimensional characters here. Everyone feels genuine and fascinating. (Blu-ray, April 2012).
