Review of The Descendants (2011) by J M — 08 Jan 2013
I really liked this movie. I felt it was a very realistic depiction of a slightly dysfunctional family handling a tough situation and coming together at the end. Not too quick to forgive, not too long in anger and bitterness.
It had some funny moments too, I just loved when the grandfather punched the friend in the nose. So funny! And the acting was very good. Sometimes these types of 'emotional conflict' movies can drag on and on with no real plot and just focus on the deep dark secrets, taking themselves too seriously.
I think this was just right.
