Review of The Descendants (2011) by Mark S — 01 Jan 2014
You really can't get any more real than this, sort of along the same real life emulated storyline meter somewhere between Little Miss Sunshine! (2006) and The Notebook (2004). The Descendants was beautifully shot in Honolulu, O'ahu, and Kaua'i, Hawaii.
Superbly cast, these actors meshed so well, each character so believable, drawing you right into their sad yet bonding journey of loss and acceptance! This movie really makes you think, as it takes you right to the core of a raw family tragedy.
.. Hawaiian land baron Matt King (George Clooney) takes his two daughters Alexandra (Shailene Woodley) & Scottie (Amara Miller) on a trip from Oahu to Kauai to confront a young real estate broker, and come to terms with his wife Elizabeth's unfortunate racing boat accident that landed her in a coma on life support.
I laughed, cried and was angered by the twists and turns as they unfolded through the eyes of Matt a true gentleman challenged by his emotions and the innate desire to do the right thing for everyone.
Definitely see this one!
