Review of The Departed (2006) by Ahmed H — 11 Feb 2015
Wow, why did I wait on this one. Fantastic piece of glorious cinema. It's a mystery and suspense action and adventure thriller. It tells the tale of South Boston undercover Billy Costigan of going undercover for a mob boss who is played the talented Jack Nicholson. Let's say that there's rats that are eating each other life like rats will do when they're hungry. The twist and turns with different aspects that just start to crumble down was fascinating. The acting is best part of these performances though. They're straight forward, convincing, and I got lost in the characters. When there's a lot of great actors, sometimes they step on each others toes. They also seem fake because the chemistry is wrong. This isn't the case. The chemistry is on par and everyone seems like they living in this world.
**spoiler*.
Don't read any further.
The deaths in this movie was one of the best parts of the movie. They came sudden, unexpected, and tragic. The way it spiraled down hill was brilliant and shows Martin's talent. Leo's characters death was the most surprising out of them all and I read that he died already. Still shocking.
Overall this movie is on the top tier of Scorsese's caliber list. 9.6.
