Review of The Departed (2006) by Raphael Georg K — 06 Apr 2013
I can say without exaggeration that I just saw the most exciting thriller and fun to watch over and over again, at least in recent years. I was not sure what to expect really and "The Departed," was expected to be a little disappointing.
From the moment the opening credits came, the film grabbed me by the neck, held me to my seat, and my eyes glued on the screen and does not let go until the final scene.
Each Outstanding performance was more than the other. Matt Damon simply becomes a corrupt cop, giving hard looks and intriguing, giving everything he have in the tank for his actions, and anything else for this role; Jack Nicholson creates another classic role to add to his resume FANTASTIC acting, his mob boss nearly steals every scene he was in, if not for all the other actors to be so, as I said before, fantastic! However, the biggest surprise to me personally, came from Leonardo DeCaprio, with a superb performance at the top of the boundary. And of course we have Alec Baldwin and Martin Sheen, both exelentes as always, and also Mark Walhberg who gives an fantastic performance in his scenes.
Each character is perfect pitch, every scene is right on the money. The plot is based on a growing dynamic proportions rarely seen in the film, common cop who works for the Mafia but is not all bad; see a street kid who is working undercover cop and this kingdom mafia led by one of the most dangerous Boston mobsters and intelligent. Not many details ...
An intriguing story, full of suspense, action with a cast of luxury. This movie is just another MASTERPICE made by Martin Scorsese.
