Review of The Departed (2006) by Matthew P — 27 Apr 2013
This is my favorite Scorcese film; more than Goodfellas, more than Taxi Driver, certainly more than Gangs of New York. DiCaprio's acting is definitive proof that he has matured from teen heart throb to a serious actror, one with enough skill to become a formidable weapon to wield in cinema.
Jack Nicholson's renown overpowers his character but the film is too strong to be brought down by that. Any type of hollywood-esque formula has been discarded for fresh dialogue and plot. A definite must see.
