A darkly gripping, utterly absorbing piece of brilliance from Martin Scorsese, The Departed succeeds on virtually all levels, with an incredible cast (Nicholson, DiCaprio, Damon, Wahlberg, Sheen, Baldwin, Winstone etc.
), clever direction and an intense tone. It's reminiscent of Scorsese's gangster classic, but with a modern twist. The moody lighting and abrasive plot are helped by Scorsese's genius behind the camera to make this remarkable feature such a joy to behold.
