Other than the rich plot, The Departed, the remake has the birthmarks from Infernal Affairs, the original. The birthmarks are Sox cap, kilt, bagpipes, harbor city, former English colony. The most genuine and effective performances are Mark Wahlberg's wicked awesome Boston accent and Tony Leung's wet dreamy eyes.
If The Departed is an audio film while Infernal Affairs is a video film. The rich plot works in either way.
