Review of The Den (2013) by Nikolai H — 02 Dec 2016
First of all, this should be watched full-screen on a laptop for optimal chills. It does give the impression of being immersed in the story due to the format (which looks just like a computer screen most of the way through), and is one of the few things this movie has going for it. Good for a novelty.
Calling this "plausible" is a bit of a stretch considering the ending (which took it out of the realm of "plays into real concerns about the internet" into "extreme urban legend"), but at times it can feel real, which is probably more to the point.
The scares were cheap, there was only real "twist" and that felt unrealistic, and it was ultimately relatively unsatisfying. The characters were poorly developed and uninteresting, so seeing them in danger wasn't particularly engaging. At least it was moderately entertaining. Just meh, overall.
