Review of The Delicious Little Devil (1919) by Byron B — 13 Aug 2013
Comedienne and Ziegfeld girl Mae Murray is hammy in the role of Mary, a poor good girl, who pretends to be Gloria, a famous European dancer with a reputation. A hulking butcher boy dated her when she was only of modest means.
Valentino is Jimmy Calhoun, the romantic straight man, who becomes a regular at the Inn where Mary improvises her way through a job as dancer. She convinces the manager of the Inn of her reputation by suggesting she caused the scandal reported in the papers involving a Duke.
Of course, the Duke ends up in the same town and turns out to be quite a villain. With three men chasing her plus Jimmy's father trying to protect him and her bumpkin father and uncle trying to protect her it gets chaotic at the end.
Jimmy gets to be like Prince Charming and save the day.
