Review of The Defiant Ones (1958) by Rocknblues 8 — 08 Nov 2009
You wouldn't think to know that this was made by the same director of the turgid Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. I guess the script is what makes it count or different- meaning this one actually looks realistically and with a sobering eye at racism in the context of a solid thriller, and the other is a lump.
That Poitier and Curtis are so good helps too, especially with a weak (not bad) ending.
