Review of The Deer Hunter (1978) by Eric H — 28 Dec 2011
Despìte the unnecesary long first hour of the movie this was a great film. I know that it was important to show how each one of the characters lived an innocent and happy life before the war but I still think it was excessively long.
However, once we get to Vietnam the film becomes immpecable. The Russian roulette scenes are incredible as is the escape sequence. If you manage to sit through the first hour of the film then you will find this movie to be one of the best vietnam war movies of al time.
Cristopher Walken and Robert De Niro are also superb in this film.
