Excellently made, the first true movie on the horrors of Vietnam and the dangers of PTSD. Christopher Walken is one of the only people I have ever seen who can outshine Robert De Niro. He deserved his Oscar for that.
The first hour seemed mostly unnecessary, but the movie as a whole was good.
