Running Time: 106 minutes.

Starring: Michelle Pfeiffer,Treat Williams and Whoopi Goldberg.

Rating: 6 out of 10.

Outline.

This is the story of the Cappadora family. They are a middle class family with middle class problems. Beth Cappadora (Pfeiffer) is a semi depressed mother of three who seems to let mothering get the better of her by forgetting the little things like her kids lunches. She takes her kids to a function at a hotel where her nightmares are realized. Her youngest son Ben is kidnapped. The nation wide manhunt turns up nothing and the family is left to grieve. Pat Cappadora (Williams) the father is clearly the rock in the family and holds it together through the 9 years until they find their kidnapped son alive living two blocks down the road from where they just moved.

Review.

This movie has a very interesting story line even though it pushes the limits of plausibility. Michelle Pfieffer does a great job playing the despondent mother even though it seems over the top in a couple of places. She forms a special bond with the main policewoman on the case Candy Bliss (Goldberg). Their relationship seems warm and believable considering the circumstances and actually adds to the overall storyline. The best part of this movie is when they discover him nine years later alive and well living with another family just down the road where they have just moved. The awkwardness of the situation kind of leaves you cringing due to the fact that he has another family and is forced to move back in with his real one. It?s a situation that makes you think how you would react. This is where the movie kind of breaks down. The kids due a respectable job acting but don?t deliver the kind of performances to really make this movie great. This is a well-put together movie that needed a little more from the kid actors and a little less from Pfeiffer to make it great.

T Factor + Think the kid actors due a good job it might score higher on the rating scale.

T Factor ? Really think in depth on the story line it could score a lot lower.

If you liked this film reel recommendations: Simple Twist of Fate, or Hearts in Atlantis.
