Review of The Decoy Bride (2011) by Jillian S — 17 Feb 2014
A cute romantic comedy. I'm not one for chick flicks generally (despite being a chick), and frankly I only picked this one up because of David Tennant, but I enjoyed it. Kelly Macdonald is very, very good as local girl Kate, who describes herself as "Kryptonite to men".
After her fiance dumps her, she returns to her island home of Hegg and her terminally ill mother, just in time to encounter James Arber (Tennant), a one-hit author about to marry internationally famous Hollywood star Lara Tyler (Alice Eve).
When Lara discovers that the supposedly secret location of their wedding has been infiltrated by the same paparazzo that ruined their last attempt, she runs off, leaving her people to substitute Kate in her place in order to fend off the photographer.
Hijinks ensue, as Kate and James bicker and race across the island to find Lara and undo their "marriage".
