A covert op goes wrong and the repercussions drag out decades. We see the wear on the operatives as the years pass and they try to maintain a semblance of a regular life. The cast is wonderful, especially the magnificent Helen Mirren and Tom Wilkinson.
Perhaps a little slow in spots, but a wonderful study of human personality and how it can both suffer and shine.
