Review of The Debt (2010) by Paul Nicholas C — 29 Jan 2013
Jessica Chastain, Helen Mirren (playing the same character) save this oddly paced movie. Uneven pacing is a common problem many films face - but 'The Debt' is odd in this movie has two well paced stories that don't fit too great together as one story.
The scenes set in the late 60s are understandably more thrilling, while the late '90s scenes are more nuanced. So 'The Debt' abruptly shifts between exciting spy thriller and cerebral spy drama.
In the end, this is more evidence supporting the argument to call Jessica Chastain the best actress working today.
