Review of The Debt (2010) by Doug P — 26 Feb 2013
There are two films in one here, which you have to say they never really successfully merge together. The story set in post-war Berlin as they try to track down Mengele...well I say Mengele, for some reason in this film they're renamed him Dieter Vogel, not really sure why.
..anyway it's Mengele. I digress, this part I found fairly engaging and I enjoyed, albeit the central love triangle feels a little strained at best, The following story set in current day though is basically rubbish and you end up with a conclusion of a few pensioners rolling around fighting each other in an old peoples home which is every bit as dull as you would expect.
In the end, it's passable journeymen work from a passable journeyman director...that doesn't have you chomping at the bit does it?!
