Review of The Debt (2010) by Dawdlingpoet — 28 Nov 2021
Don't get me wrong, Helen Mirren can play a pretty kick-ass spy figure but this film was a bit too grim for my personal liking overall. Some elements of the plot work better than others and I found myself feeling less bothered to see what happened in the second half of it.
I wasn't sure how much of it may be based on (if but half?) truth, although on subsequent searches online it seems it's not based on a true story at all. It's certainly a tense watch and I suppose its fairly gripping at times but it was a bit too grim for me overall I suppose, which is maybe my fault for wanting to watch it(?).
Make of that what you will.
