Review of The Death of Stalin (2017) by Hector V — 22 Aug 2018
Centered around the semi-true events that ensued amongst Russian officials following the infamous dictator's death, The Death of Stalin is a dark political comedy from Veep's Armando Iannucci. The film is at its best when it revels in its absurdity, which can get painfully close to a certain contemporary someone in politics right now.
The comedy ironically enough gets lost from the sheer silliness of it all, though, and the film hits a sluggish pace somewhere in its second act, making it enjoyable viewing for only niche crowds.
