Review of The Dead Zone (1983) by Debbie P — 29 May 2009
A decent psy-fi movie but very little chemistry between actors and not that interesting of a plot. The final story about the politician was pretty weak and cheesy how they worked in the main character's ex lover and her family into it.
I'm not sure why Cronenberg is doing this since he doesn't really bother playing with or expanding the psychic phenomena -- maybe he wasn't allowed to make major changes, or maybe he was just pumping out a normal release to pay the bills.
This is worth seeing for Crisopher Walken's iconic awkward disposition or for Martin Sheen's crazy politician character, (which is a creepily prophetic mix of Bill Clinton / Bush Jr.).
